3CX Multi-Tenant PBX Solution enables managed service providers (MSPs), IT resellers, and companies to install multiple companies into a single instance of the 3CX PBX Server. It was built around 3CX’s Multi-Company Mode, which allows central management, shared infrastructure, and company environments per customer without the need for an independent PBX installation for each customer. Each tenant has its own department with individual users, extensions, and call handling settings. Service providers benefit from the provision of a single 3CX license key which covers the tenants configured, simplifying license and infrastructure management.
It’s especially effective for smaller businesses that are served by MSPs, VoIP providers, and virtual office operators. Providers are not required to have one cloud instance for each customer, but can instead combine their communication environments and manage them in a single platform. The solution provides on-premises, cloud, and 3CX-hosted deployment options. Netmate IT Services provides planning, deployment, and management solutions for businesses in the UAE, using 3CX communication infrastructure. Netmate IT has 12+ years’ experience in the IT services industry and has been providing implementation and technical services to customers in the UAE, GCC, Kenya, and Nepal.
Most hosted PBX setups need a separate instance for each customer. That works at first, but it gets messy once you have a lot of clients. With 3CX Multi-Tenant, you host all of them on one instance. Each company works inside its own department, and the PBX underneath is shared. Fewer cloud instances mean less to look after as you grow.
Everything runs from one management interface. You can create a company department, add users, assign extensions, and change settings without logging into a different system each time. If you add customers often, the 3CX XAPI configuration API can create tenants automatically. That saves you a lot of repeat work during onboarding.
Each tenant has its own department, users, and communication resources. You can also give company owners group ownership rights. This lets your customers handle a few settings on their own, while you keep control of the overall platform. There’s one limit to know about. Each tenant gets only one department. If a customer needs several connected departments, they’ll probably be better off with their own PBX instance.
One 3CX license key covers all the tenants on your instance. Simultaneous-call capacity isn’t split into fixed amounts per customer. Instead, all tenants draw from the same pool, which makes better use of what you’re paying for. The catch is that you need to size that pool for your customers’ combined traffic, not for any single one.
3CX Multi-Tenant handles inbound and outbound calls through SIP trunks. You can assign DID numbers to specific extensions and queues, so a call to a customer’s number reaches the right company. Some providers set up a separate SIP trunk for each tenant. Others share one trunk across several customers, as long as the SIP provider supports it. You can pick whichever fits the service you’re building.
You can run it on your own servers, in a self-hosted cloud, or have 3CX host it. It’s up to you and what your resources allow. When a new customer signs up, you create a new tenant. When call volume goes up, you upgrade the license to add more simultaneous calls. Either way, you don’t need to build a new instance for each customer.
Netmate IT has been working in IT services for more than 12 years. For 3CX, the team covers the full job: assessing your infrastructure, deploying the PBX, setting up tenants, connecting SIP trunks, and configuring call routing.
Multi-tenant setups need some planning up front. Every customer shares the same license capacity and the same server resources, so a rough guess can cause problems later. Before suggesting a deployment model, Netmate IT looks at how many companies you plan to host, how many users they have, and how many calls will run at the same time.
The team is based in Dubai and works mostly with businesses in the UAE. They also support customers in the GCC, Kenya, and Nepal. Besides the initial setup, they handle configuration, integration, and ongoing technical support. So if you’re launching a hosted PBX service or moving a virtual office onto one platform, you’ll have help from start to finish.
Running a separate PBX for every customer gets expensive fast, and it’s a pain to look after. That’s usually the point where providers start looking at multi-tenant hosting.
Say you’re an MSP in Dubai with a handful of small business clients. You can put them all on one 3CX instance instead of spinning up a new system each time. If you’re a VoIP provider in Abu Dhabi, you can offer hosted telephony and give each customer their own extensions and DID numbers. Virtual office operators can use the same setup for the companies sharing their space. And if you’re an IT reseller, it’s an easy way to add managed phone services without taking on a pile of extra PBX systems.
The idea behind all of these is simple. You manage everything in one place, and each customer still gets their own organized setup.
A traditional PBX usually serves one organization on its own system. A multi-tenant PBX lets several companies share one instance, while each keeps its own department and communication resources. This cuts down on duplicate infrastructure and makes life easier for providers who host many small businesses.
It depends on things like extension digit length and your server hardware. A three-digit extension plan allows fewer tenants than a five-digit plan. You’ll also want to think about the number of users, simultaneous calls, and available resources when planning.
No. One license key covers multiple customer environments, as long as it meets the minimum of 16SC Basic. Simultaneous calls are shared across all tenants, so choose a license that fits the combined call traffic you expect.
Yes, to a degree. As the system owner, you create departments and assign users to each tenant. You can also give company owners group ownership permissions so they can manage certain settings in their own environment. Each tenant is limited to one department, so a business that needs several departments inside one tenant may need a dedicated 3CX instance.
No. Extension numbers are shared across the whole instance, so duplicates aren’t allowed. Give each customer its own extension range. Tenants also can’t dial each other’s extensions as internal calls. Calls between tenants need to go through SIP trunk routing.
Yes. You can set up individual SIP trunks for different tenants, or use one shared trunk for several customers. What you can do depends on your SIP provider and the connection parameters it supports. You can also assign DID numbers to specific customer extensions and queues to keep incoming calls organized.
Yes. Netmate IT offers 3CX deployment and configuration, including infrastructure assessment, tenant setup, extension planning, SIP trunk integration, and call-routing configuration.
